Single Peanut

Single Peanut:
In the Agriculture school, the first year was full of practical works in the fields. Once it was a duty of another student to be the watchman of a field of peanuts but he requested Janardan Valvi to take the charge. The student wanted to go to watch a movie in the town. Janardan Valvi took the charge. After midnight the student returned. The boy also brought some peanut plants and offered some peanuts to Janardan Valvi. He took only one of them and he left for the boarding. The headmaster, Mr. Vasantrao Madhavrao Patil was very strict and disciplined. He found the plants of peanuts on the spot. He asked the student on duty. He directed that Janardan was also there and he ate too. Janardan Valvi was learning to ride the bicycle with his friends. He got the news that the headmaster was looking for him for that offence. Janardan was very brave and straight forward. He walked strait to the school. The head master was waiting for him near the entrance gate.
He roared as he saw Janardan, "Did you eat peanuts in the field?"
Janardan swore and said, "I ate only one peanut offered by that student."
The tears rolled down on his cheeks as he said this. The headmaster was assured that it was the truth. Janardan never accepted the blames.
